Therapeutic Software for Health Unity Monitoration
The software NATURO-DATA is a therapeutic program offered
in Brazil for doctors, hospitals and public health centers.
The program processes indications of brazilian vegetables
substances and diagnoses diseases based on symptoms presented by the patient.
All you need is the patient to inform the symptoms in
a common language and the computer will process the diagnose, specific
or differential, including, the various possible cases of poisoning.
Further on, the patient will find precise indications
on how to utilize substances of vegetable origin in his treatment.
In case the symptoms do not bring a clear diagnoses,
it symptom may be treated in separate or, according to evaluation of it
case, the patient may be referred to a specialized clinic, performed as
thus an instrument of selection, fundamental in hospitals which take care
of a great number of patients.
Nevertheless the system preserves the freedom of the
person in charge to prescribe any medicine he may deem as necessary for
each case.
Furthermore, a medicine prescribed throught this system
will also be evaluated for statistics and epidemiologicals purposes.
The program has been developed based on brazilian plants
data used in phytoterapy.
The data are also research an specialized bibliography
produced by various authors in differents disciplines such as,botany, pharmacy,
anthropology, biology and medicine.
The configuration of each disease more common among
the brazilian population and its various presentations are been surveyed
from specialized bibliography and general and clinic patology.
Besides its essentially therapeutic functions the program
also monitores the doctors and patients schedules, patients registration
and anthropometric data, medicals appointments, feeding tables, toxic substances,
statistics, bibliography, growth graphics, fenological data of medicinals
plants,including the plants images, etc., forming at the present time a
total number of 75.753 command lines.
Presently, the data base offers 435 books and 157 articles
related with the survey, 432 identified medicinals substances, 43 diseases,
8 intoxications, 196 symptoms and 50 phytotherapics produced by brazilians
laboratories.
However, we projected this research of at least 1.000
medicinal substances, of vegetable origin and all of phytotherapics brazilian
production.
The program has been developed since 1990 an a CLIPPER
5.3 language, with extremely friendly presentation which makes its training
an learning very easy.
Besides, the system offers a potential enhancement for
others interfaces such as WINDOWS, for example, throught DELPHI 3.0.
In spite of all efforts made so far more resources are
necessary in order to speed up the data inclusion in the program, mainly
for the hiring of specilized professionals who in 2 years work, may offer
the program to the public.
Nevertheless, the program can already be demonstrated
to the public considering that it answers most of the questions required
by a therapeutic program.
The brazilian population is formed cultural and racially
on three basics ethnias: the indigenous, the african and the european.
First, Portugueses, follow by French, Dutch, Spanich, British and with
the immigration in the last century, the introduction of settlers of Japonese,
Italian, Germain, etc. origin.
However the folk medicine was predominantly under the
indigenous culture and at a second level under the african culture origin,
besides been shaped by a dominant europeen influence.
Presently, it is the result of an acculturation process
which not always allows for the identification of originals culturals traces.
For this reason, the population specially the one of
low income population comes basicly from these ethnias and its mergings.
It utilizes medicines resources named folk medicine
by the modern anthropology and which in breaf words means an array of popular
medicals practices which utilizes substances of vegetable origin.
However, since this medicine an its practisers are not
institutionally organized, its application occurs in a sparse and occasional
manner at a low level of organization.
In reality are isolated users and practisers which follow
it and diffuse such secular practices of treating of human disease.
Upon installation of the project in the health center
or city hospitals this practices will eventually be incentivated but, in
the other hand, will avoid the risqs produced by this medicine, considering
the fact that these popular medical practices are not evaluated nor scientific
followed.
Upon the installation of the project in health center,
the persons in charge themselves, the nurses, the health agents and doctors
will have more controls over such practices and will be an a position of
better following its results and the clinic efficacy of each prescription,
considering that the program will register each assistance.
Besides, the computer will also be used to make a quick
selection of patients thus avoiding long waiting lines and in the case
of serious disease it prevence a patient to be assisted for luck of information.
The great risq involving the use of medicinals substance
in natura: the toxic substance and the inadequate dosage will be avoided.
However, the program was not conceived to utilize a exclusive phytotherapic
pharmacopoeia.
In reality, the computer operator will have at hand
total free will to decide in each case which medication to prescribe, been
limited by the resources utilizes by natural medicine.
